Berlin New Music Opera Award
Opera Foundation Australia announces the 3rd Berlin New Music Opera Award. This Award takes the former Bayreuth Award, after 33 years, in an exciting new direction. It is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office administered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Australian sponsors are The Wagner Society and Anthony & Suzanne Maple-Brown.
This Award enables an Australian artist who is professionally engaged in some facet of opera such as a conductor, director, designer or repetiteur, to further develop skills by undertaking study in Berlin. The focus of this new Award is to study contemporary New Music operas written post 1945. The Berlin New Music Opera Award is for a period of approximately one to two months and this Award must be completed in the calendar year in which it is granted. The funds are to be collected personally in Berlin and the Award must also be undertaken in Berlin.
